Colby joined Xanadu the Summer of 2005, a generous gift from his breeders. A welcome addition and a wonderful new friend, he has a warm spirit and a zest for life.

Conformational Qualities:
Colby is an impressive Flat-Coat. He is a very elegant dog. Absolutely fantastic forechest. He has a wonderful headpiece coming off of a nice, well-arched neck, and a marvelous ear set. He has very nice bone. He is a big boy, a little over 25" at the withers and around 75 pounds. His movement is flashy and eye-catching, with a remarkable, lovely side gait. Great feet. Colby also has a nice flat coat, with ample feathering. He offers excellent breed type. More about Colby and some of his relatives can be found here.
Attitude:
Colby has to be one of the happiest and easiest to please dogs around! In addition to the most affectionate! He is very eager to please, and Colby responds very well to verbal praise. He likes retrieving, land and water, though probably a little more interested when water is involved as he loves to swim. He is very birdy. The first time I took him to the lake, he dove into the water and swam as hard as he could after a flock of geese, sure he was supposed to retrieve them. This was quite a large lake, and once he became a black dot, I decided I better call him back, and he returned promptly. He is kind and respectful to other dogs, and he will put up with a lot, but he will stand up for himself if need be. He is a big kisser, and is convinced the standard and appropriate greeting for everyone is a solid 5 minutes of Colby kisses. He will crawl into your lap and stay with you as long as you will let him. He is very people-oriented and requires the company of humans as much as possible. We are currently giving agility a try, and will see how he likes it. Hopefully Colby will be running in hunt tests soon.
